Discover the Freedom of Biking in LA County

When you think of Metro, you may envision buses and trains, but did you know that we offer much more? With Bike Month just around the corner in May, we have an exciting lineup of events, promotions, and savings to enhance your biking experience.

LA County has been at the forefront of bike-friendly initiatives since July 2016, when we introduced the Bike Share program. Today, you can find 225 Bike Share stations scattered throughout the county, equipped with over 1,800 bikes, both classic and electric, ready to be rented and enjoyed. In 2021 alone, we facilitated over 441,000 rides, showcasing the growing popularity of biking as a mode of transportation.

To support the biking community, we’ve been working on expanding bike lanes and paths along key regional corridors. As of 2022, LA County boasts 1,894 bike lanes and paths, with more to come. In addition, we’ve partnered with Bike Hub, an independent contractor, to establish secure bike self-parking, maintenance, and service stations at strategic locations like Union Station, Hollywood and Vine, Culver City, and Willowbrook/Rosa Parks station.

The beauty of biking is the ability to seamlessly integrate it with other forms of transportation. Our buses are equipped with front-loading bike racks, enabling you to combine bus and bike travel effortlessly. Moreover, you’re welcome to bring your bike on board our trains, allowing you to explore the city from a whole new perspective. Riding a bike not only benefits your health and the environment but can often be a faster alternative to driving.

To celebrate Bike Month, we have exciting promotions and discounts in store for you. On May 16th, Bike Day, all train turnstiles will be unlocked, and bus fares will be waived. Additionally, Metro Bike Share will provide free 30-minute rides throughout the day. Throughout the month, Bike Week and Bike Month will present special discounts on Metro Bike Share passes, making it even more accessible for everyone to experience the joy of biking.

But the fun doesn’t stop there. Throughout May, we’re offering exclusive discounts on bike-themed merchandise at Metro Shop. You can avail yourself of a 15% discount on our Bike Collection, perfect for bike enthusiasts. Moreover, our new digital keyless system for Metro Bike Lockers ensures secure parking for your bicycle.
