Ryvid Introduces Affordable Electric Motorcycle: The Outset

California-based startup Ryvid has recently launched its latest electric motorcycle, the Outset. This new model serves as a more affordable entry-level option in Ryvid’s lineup. Priced at £5,995, the Outset offers a cost-effective alternative for those looking to join the electric motorcycle revolution.

The Outset shares many components with its predecessor, the Anthem. It features a rigid folded steel frame, a 72V air-cooled brushless DC motor, and a 4.3 kWh battery. One notable feature that both bikes share is a reverse gear system, allowing riders to manoeuvre in tight spots effortlessly.

However, the Outset differentiates itself through its distinctive design and purpose. It boasts an enhanced suspension system with greater travel, offering a smoother ride on various terrains. The seat design resembles that of a motocross bike, providing a sporty and ergonomic riding experience.

In terms of performance, the Outset offers a range of 70 miles in Eco mode, slightly lower than the Anthem. Its top speed remains consistent at 75 mph. Despite these minor differences, the Outset retains the impressive specifications that Ryvid is known for.

Owners of the Anthem also have the option to convert their motorcycles into Outsets using parts from Ryvid’s catalogue. This conversion process, showcased through video tutorials provided by the company, allows riders to enjoy the Outset’s styling and capabilities at a fraction of the price.

The Outset is available in two attractive colours, Sector Red and Vapor Grey, adding a touch of customisation for riders. Pre-orders for this affordable electric motorcycle are open, with shipping expected to commence in the summer of this year.

As the electric motorcycle market continues to evolve, Ryvid’s Outset provides an intriguing option for riders seeking an affordable, stylish, and eco-friendly two-wheeler. With its combination of performance and cost-effectiveness, the Outset is set to make a significant impact in the electric motorcycle landscape.

The electric motorcycle industry has been experiencing steady growth in recent years, driven by increasing demand for eco-friendly transportation solutions and advancements in battery technology. According to a report by Markets and Markets, the global electric motorcycle and scooter market is projected to reach £14.3 billion by 2027, with a compound annual growth rate of 4.6% during the forecast period.

One of the key factors contributing to the market growth is the rising awareness about environmental issues and the need to reduce carbon emissions. Electric motorcycles offer a cleaner and more sustainable alternative to traditional petrol-powered bikes. Additionally, governments in various countries have introduced favourable regulations and incentives to promote the adoption of electric vehicles, including motorcycles.

However, the industry still faces some challenges. Limited charging infrastructure is one of the major concerns for electric motorcycle users. Unlike traditional petrol stations, charging stations for electric motorcycles are not as widespread. This can create range anxiety and limit the practicality of electric motorcycles for long-distance travel. To overcome this hurdle, governments and private companies are investing in the development of charging infrastructure to support the growing number of electric vehicles on the road.

Another challenge is the higher upfront cost of electric motorcycles compared to their petrol counterparts. Although electric motorcycles offer long-term cost savings through reduced fuel and maintenance expenses, the initial purchase price can be a barrier for some consumers. To address this, companies like Ryvid are introducing more affordable electric motorcycle models like the Outset, making electric transportation accessible to a wider audience.
