Yadea Unveils the Compact UFO S Folding Electric Bike

Yadea, the world’s leading e-bike and e-scooter manufacturer, recently introduced its latest innovation, the UFO S, at the China International Bike Fair. This small-format folding e-bike offers a fresh take on Yadea’s previous UFO mini-folding electric bike, catering to urban commuters in search of a compact and portable mode of transportation.

One of the notable features of the UFO S is its small 14″ x 2.125″ tires, which enable easy navigation through crowded city streets. Designed with urban commuters in mind, this folding e-bike allows riders to conveniently transport it on buses or trains while providing a comfortable and pedal-friendly riding experience.

While the rear hub motor packs a modest punch with a peak power of 420W from a 250W nominal setup, it remains capable of tackling slopes with grades of up to 17%. Additionally, the UFO S has a maximum speed of 25 km/h (15.5 mph), ensuring it adheres to European and Asian speed limits for electric bikes. This speed is sufficient to swiftly maneuver through traffic, thanks to the dedicated bike lane.

Although initially released in China, the Yadea UFO S is expected to make its way to other markets, including North America. The pricing for the UFO S is projected to be under 2,500 RMB (approximately US $350). Yadea has a track record of launching products in the US at competitive prices, evident in the recent release of the Yadea Artist electric scooter, which debuted at just $499.

Aside from the UFO S and the Artist electric scooter, Yadea boasts an impressive lineup of e-bikes and e-scooters for the US market. This includes the Yadea Elite Max and Yadea Elite Prime, which are full-suspension standing electric scooters, as well as the Innovator folding e-bike and the Trooper fat tire moped-style e-bike. Furthermore, the Yadea Cocoa, a utility e-bike, is slated to enter the US market in the near future.

As an enthusiastic participant during my visit to one of Yadea’s factories in Anhui, China, I had the opportunity to personally test drive several of their models, excluding the UFO S. I had hands-on experience with the three full-suspension electric scooters, as well as various e-bikes and e-mopeds. Additionally, Yadea showcased its larger electric three-wheelers, capable of transporting multiple passengers or carrying up to 1,500 kg (3,300 pounds) of cargo.

While the trikes won’t be heading to the North American market anytime soon, you can get a glimpse of Yadea’s production process by watching the test ride video below. It offers insights into how these eco-friendly vehicles are meticulously crafted inside the company’s factory.
