Embarking on a sunny day, I put the Trek Verve+ 1 Lowstep LT, an electric bike with a potent 250W rear hub motor and three e-assist levels, to the test on this notorious hill. Approaching the foot of the East Roy Street hill, I switched to the top level of e-assist and high gear and began my ascent, powered by a potent combination of determination and electric propulsion.

The challenge became more demanding as the incline increased. I felt myself struggling to maintain momentum, the powerful bike beneath me teetering on the edge of control. Summoning all my strength and leaning forward, I fought my way to the top, completing Seattle’s steepest hill climb in an exhilarating test of both mind and body.
