DJI Ventures into Electric Bikes with Avinox Drive System

DJI, the renowned drone manufacturer, is making waves in the electric bike industry with its latest innovation, the Avinox Drive System. This expansion into electric bikes is considered a natural progression for DJI, given its expertise in motor development and battery design from the drone side of its business.

The Avinox Drive System is a compact and lightweight motor, weighing just 2.52kg. Despite its small size, it delivers an impressive 108Nm of torque and can reach up to 850W of peak power. The motor offers four riding assist modes, including Auto, Eco, Trail, and Turbo, along with Boost mode for an extra surge of power. Riders can also customize their motor settings using the Avinox app.

One of the exciting features of the Avinox Drive System is the availability of two battery options: 600Wh and 800Wh. DJI claims that the 600Wh battery can provide up to 117km of range, while the larger 800Wh battery offers up to 157km of range. Additionally, the 800Wh battery can be charged from 0% to 75% in just 90 minutes.

The Avinox Drive System will be featured on the Amflow PL, an electric mountain bike produced by DJI’s bike brand, Amflow. The Amflow PL is designed to be a trail-oriented bike, equipped with 150mm rear and 160mm front travel. It boasts a lightweight frame, weighing 2.27kg, contributing to an overall bike weight of 19.2kg. The bike also comes with an integrated 2-inch OLED screen on the top tube for viewing riding statistics and a Bluetooth handlebar remote for controlling ride modes.

Expected to arrive in the UK, Australia, and Germany in the fourth quarter of the year, the Amflow PL Carbon and Amflow PL Carbon Pro models will feature Fox suspension and SRAM groupsets. With prices starting from €7,000, these electric mountain bikes are set to offer an exhilarating and high-performing riding experience to cycling enthusiasts. DJI’s foray into the electric bike market with the Avinox Drive System and the Amflow PL marks an exciting development for both the brand and the industry as a whole.

The electric bike industry has been experiencing significant growth in recent years, with more individuals turning to alternative forms of transportation and seeking eco-friendly options. DJI’s entry into this industry with its Avinox Drive System is expected to further fuel this growth and provide consumers with a high-performing and innovative electric bike option.

Market forecasts indicate that the global electric bike market is projected to reach a value of over $28 billion by 2027, with a compound annual growth rate of around 7%. This growth can be attributed to several factors, including increasing concerns about environmental sustainability, government initiatives promoting electric transportation, and advancements in battery technology.

With its expertise in motor development and battery design gained from its drone business, DJI is well-positioned to make a significant impact in the electric bike industry. The Avinox Drive System’s compact and lightweight motor, coupled with its impressive torque and power capabilities, sets it apart from other electric bike motors on the market. The availability of four riding assist modes and the ability to customize settings through the Avinox app further enhance the overall riding experience.

Battery range is a critical consideration for electric bike users, and DJI has addressed this by offering two battery options with the Avinox Drive System. The 600Wh and 800Wh battery options provide substantial range, allowing riders to go longer distances without the worry of running out of power. The fast-charging capability of the 800Wh battery is also a noteworthy feature, providing convenience and reducing downtime for riders.

The Amflow PL, equipped with the Avinox Drive System, is set to be a game-changer in the electric mountain bike segment. With its trail-oriented design, impressive suspension travel, and lightweight frame, it caters to the needs and demands of avid mountain bikers. The integrated OLED screen and Bluetooth handlebar remote add a touch of convenience and technological advancement to the riding experience.

As DJI plans to release the Amflow PL Carbon and Amflow PL Carbon Pro models in select markets, such as the UK, Australia, and Germany, in the fourth quarter of the year, it is expected to generate significant interest among cycling enthusiasts. Despite the higher price point, these electric mountain bikes offer top-of-the-line components, ensuring a thrilling and high-performing ride.

DJI’s venture into the electric bike market not only expands its product portfolio but also contributes to the overall development of the industry. The Avinox Drive System’s advanced features and capabilities, coupled with the Amflow PL’s impressive design and performance, mark significant milestones in the electric bike industry and further solidify DJI’s position as a leader in innovation and technology.
