CycleMAYnia: Promoting Bike Safety and Active Lifestyles in Santa Barbara

The City of Santa Barbara and MOVE Santa Barbara County are excited to invite the public to attend CycleMAYnia, a community event aimed at promoting bike safety, active lifestyles, and the benefits of biking. Taking place on Saturday, May 18 at De La Guerra Plaza, this event promises to be a fun-filled day for all participants.

One of the highlights of CycleMAYnia is the opportunity for participants to have their e-bikes undergo safety checks. These checks ensure that the bikes are in good working condition and ready for a day of riding. Additionally, a skills course will be available for participants to practice safe e-bike handling techniques. This is a great chance for both beginners and experienced riders to improve their biking skills.

To build confidence for interacting safely with traffic and to explore new bike and pedestrian infrastructure, there will be a group e-bike ride throughout the community. Led by instructors, this 8.5-mile ride will provide an enjoyable and educational experience for all riders.

In order to participate in the group ride and receive giveaways, registration is required. E-bike riders aged 10 and older are welcome to attend, as long as they bring their own e-bike and wear a helmet. To register and complete all necessary pre-ride activities, visit MoveSBCounty.org/Events.

CycleMAYnia is part of Santa Barbara County Association of Government’s efforts to promote biking and advocate for safer cycling infrastructure. Through a combination of community events, workshops, and rides, CycleMAYnia aims to increase awareness of the benefits of biking and encourage active and healthy lifestyles.

Don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity to join the CycleMAYnia community event. Mark your calendars for May 18 and come to De La Guerra Plaza for a day of fun, learning, and promoting bike safety in Santa Barbara. For more information, access the event flyer at SantaBarbaraCA.gov/Cyclemaynia.

According to market forecasts, the global e-bike market is expected to reach a value of $46.04 billion by 2025, growing at a CAGR of 6.1% from 2018 to 2025. This growth can be attributed to factors such as increased environmental awareness, rising fuel prices, and a growing emphasis on healthy and active lifestyles.

One of the main issues related to the biking industry is the need for improved cycling infrastructure and safety measures. Many cities are working towards creating dedicated bike lanes, installing bike-sharing systems, and implementing traffic-calming measures to ensure the safety of cyclists. Organizations like MOVE Santa Barbara County and the Santa Barbara County Association of Government are actively advocating for these initiatives to promote bike safety and encourage more people to cycle.
