The highly anticipated „EBike Expo NZ“ events, originally scheduled to take place in Christchurch and Auckland in October and November 2024, have been postponed until next year. This decision comes as a result of the e-bike industry’s failure to fully recover to pre-COVID levels, according to Marleen Goedhart, the managing director of expo organizer Icon Conference and Event Management.
While the e-bike market has been steadily increasing in terms of sales volumes, the exhibitor support necessary to successfully run the expos is currently lacking. Goedhart emphasizes that without the crucial backing of exhibitors, the expos cannot proceed as planned.
This is not the first time the events have faced postponement, as they were also pushed back in previous years, including 2023, due to COVID-19 restrictions. However, prior to the pandemic, Auckland hosted highly successful e-bike expos in 2018, 2019, and 2022.
Despite the setbacks caused by the ongoing global health crisis, there is optimism that the e-bike expo will return to its normal schedule in 2025.
