Minnesota’s highly anticipated e-bike rebate program is gearing up for a much smoother launch after technical difficulties forced its initial closure. The program’s online application portal is set to reopen on July 2 at 11 a.m., with new measures in place to handle the influx of applications.
To manage the anticipated surge of applicants, the portal will now direct users to a virtual waiting room before granting access to the application. This innovative approach is akin to the ticketing systems employed by professional sports teams for high-demand games, ensuring a fair and orderly process.
The program, which offers rebates on qualifying e-bike purchases, will accept the first 10,000 applications on a first-come, first-served basis before closing. Successful applicants will receive email confirmations upon submission and can expect a response by July 9. With the allocated $2 million from the Minnesota legislature, the program estimates it will issue approximately 1,300 refunds for the year.
