New Long Travel eMTB from Rotwild: A Trailblazer for Serious Terrain

Rotwild has taken a groundbreaking approach with their latest long travel eMTB, setting it apart from the rest of their lineup. The R.EXC boasts a unique suspension design that is specifically engineered to conquer challenging terrains and reach exhilarating speeds. With a mid-high pivot, elevated stays, and aggressive geometry, this bike is built to handle it all.

Equipped with Shimano’s cutting-edge motor system and an impressive capacity battery, the R.EXC ensures you’ll have more than enough power to tackle even the steepest inclines on your way back up the hill. This eMTB comes in two models, each with their own distinctive frame features that are worth highlighting.

The R.EXC comes with a carbon frame and a 29″/27.5″ mixed wheel setup, offering versatility and control. It boasts an impressive travel range of 145-160mm, complemented by a 170mm fork. With a head angle of 63.3° and a seat angle of 78°, the R.EXC is designed to provide modern geometry for tackling any trail.

Rotwild designed the R.EXC to compete in the E-Enduro World Cup, and it shows in the bike’s geometry. With input from Claudio Caluori, the R.EXC features a reach that fits into standard sizing with increments ranging from 430mm to 505mm. Taller riders may need to adjust with a higher rise bar for a perfect fit.

The R.EXC also offers adjustable chainstay length through a flip chip, allowing riders to fine-tune their riding preferences. Its unique frame features include an integrated Eightpins dropper post, providing up to 225mm of travel and individual adjustability. The use of a universal derailleur hanger and cable routing through the frame further enhance the bike’s functionality.

In terms of suspension design, Rotwild has taken a measured and calculated approach. By implementing a mid-high pivot design, the R.EXC maintains a stable chainstay length throughout its travel range. The bike’s anti-rise values have been optimised to avoid the dreaded brake jack, ensuring a smooth and controlled ride. Additionally, an incredibly consistent anti-squat of 106-108% stabilises the suspension without any disturbances.

The R.EXC is available in two build kits. Both models feature Shimano XT brakes and drivetrain, as well as the impressive Shimano EP801 motor and 820Wh battery. The Ultra build incorporates Fox Factory suspension, while the Pro build uses Performance and Performance Elite components. Whether you opt for the Ultra or Pro build, the R.EXC is set to deliver an exceptional riding experience.

Rotwild’s new R.EXC pushes the boundaries of what’s possible in an eMTB. With its innovative suspension design, powerful motor system, and trail-focused geometry, this bike is a game-changer for riders seeking adventure on serious terrain. Get ready to conquer new trails with the R.EXC from Rotwild.

The eMTB industry is experiencing significant growth as more and more riders are drawn to the benefits of electric-assist mountain biking. According to market forecasts, the global eMTB market is projected to reach a value of $28 billion by 2027, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9.5% during the forecast period. This growth can be attributed to factors such as increasing adoption of e-bikes for recreational purposes, rising environmental consciousness, and advancements in battery and motor technologies.

One of the key issues related to the eMTB industry is the debate around trail access. While e-bikes have gained popularity among mountain bikers, there are concerns from traditional mountain bike advocates and environmentalists about the impact of e-bikes on trails and natural areas. Some trail networks have banned or restricted eMTB access, citing concerns about erosion, user conflicts, and safety. However, there are ongoing discussions and efforts to find a balance that allows eMTB riders to enjoy trails responsibly while minimising environmental impacts.

For those interested in learning more about the eMTB industry, there are several reputable sources of information. EMTB Online provides in-depth reviews, news, and industry updates related to eMTBs. Another valuable resource is the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA), which provides guidance and advocacy for responsible mountain biking, including eMTB use.

With the rapid advancements in technology and increasing demand for eMTBs, it’s an exciting time for both riders and manufacturers in the industry. The innovative approach taken by Rotwild with their R.EXC model is a testament to the continuous evolution and development of eMTBs, pushing the boundaries of what is possible for riders on challenging terrains.
